Cloverdale’s real estate market consists of an eclectic mix of condos, townhouses, and single-family homes.
You’ll find the odd original farmhouse scattered through different neighbourhoods in Cloverdale that date as far back as the 1930s, but the majority of homes in the area came after the mid-’70s.
There has been a small amount of new development downtown, but for the most part, Cloverdale has managed to escape the construction craze its neighbouring communities have.

Jamie and I were raised in Cloverdale and walked to Lord Tweedsmuir High School every day. We have great memories of sledding down Greenaway Hill in the winters, and even catching the one and only time Lollapalooza was held at the Racetrack.
There are also so many great restaurants and pubs including The Hawthorne Beer Market, The Vault, and the newly renovated The Henry. All completely different and completely fantastic.
It’s a great place to buy a home or townhome.

What You'll Love
You’ll love that Cloverdale feels like a small town in the corner of a big city because it is. The pace is just a little slower, the history is a little more important, and the people are a little more friendly. It has everything you need within a short drive and enjoys plenty of great community events, from festivals to flea markets.
This sleepy little town comes alive every May long weekend for the annual rodeo. The local businesses will all paint their windows or dress up their front entrances, and the residents all dust off their cowboy hats and come out to enjoy the festivities. It attracts close to 100,000 guests every year, and it’s always a great time.
What You Might Not Like
Jamie and I grew up in Cloverdale, so it holds a special place in our hearts. Maybe we are biased, but we are honest when we say that there isn’t much we don’t love and know that so many of our clients will be happy buying a home in Cloverdale.
That said, there are a couple of things worth noting if you are going to buy a house in Cloverdale:
- The traffic on Highway 10 has become a little crazy during rush hour, and
- In the spring, you can expect the wind to blow the smell of the farms north for a few weeks. But, don’t worry, you quickly get used to it and move on with your day.
